Last night, Dwight Howard and the Atlanta Hawks took an L to Dwight’s former Lakers squad 109-94. Following Howards’s 19 point performance in the loss, a Lakers fan did not mince words as the 6’11, 265 pound center walked off the floor, calling him a “bitch.” Howard, who has been battling the “soft” label since he entered the league, revealed his touchiness on the subject by getting into it with a troll in the crowd, saying “Come down here and say it to my face.” Howard was eventually shuffled along by a security guard half his size, possibly proving the fans point.
I kinda feel for Dwight. People expected a man built like a young Shaq to be the league’s next dominant big man, but Dwight Howard is no more than just a really solid NBA center with a plethora of feelings and an ego more fragile than crystal stemware. With career averages of 18 points and 13 boards a game, there aren’t many players who wouldn’t invite that productivity on their squad. The problem is the lofty expectations. Right, Kobe?
