Texas High School Football Star Landen Williams-Callis Rejects False Narrative About His Recruitment

Landen Williams-Callis Recruiting Texas College Football Prediction

Landen Williams-Callis is not ready to announce his college football commitment. He did not speak with a prominent recruiting analyst about the Texas Longhorns.

It seems to be a misunderstanding.

The college football pundit who made his prediction was doing so based on his own information. The college football prospect still felt compelled to set the record straight.

Who is Landed Williams-Callis?

At 5-foot-8, 190 pounds, Williams-Callis is rated as a four- or five-star recruit in the Class of 2027. It depends on where you look. He ranks as one of the three best players at his position, running back, the No. 4 player in Texas and a top-30 prospect overall.

Landen Williams-Callis played in all 16 games as a junior at Richmond Randle High School. The high-volume back ran for an astonishing 3,502 yards and 59 touchdowns to lead the Lions to a Class 5A D-II runner-up finish in 2025. His sophomore season was just as strong with 2,103 yards and 43 touchdowns on 9.14 yards per carry. He really burst onto the scene as a freshman to be named as the District 10-5A D-II Overall MVP behind 1,946 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Although Williams-Callis lacks in height, he plays at a different speed than everybody else on the field. His low center of gravity and natural pad level also helps him to play bigger than he is on paper. Defenses struggle to wrap him up. He can either run past you or through you.

He may or may not play college football at Texas.

Any school in the country would be thrilled to receive a commitment from Landen Williams-Callis. The highly-coveted ball-carrier holds 70 (!!) scholarship offers from all of the top programs. It seems like there are six schools still in the mix. Really three.

Ohio State, SMU and Houston are lingering. Oregon, Texas A&M and Texas are probably in the lead.

When asked about Williams-Callis, Rivals analyst Steve Wiltfong guessed that he will end up as a Longhorn.

However, the running back himself rejected this notion. Williams-Callis said Wiltfong’s assessment is not true.

“I never talked to you or anybody from Rivals, this is a complete lie 💯”

To be fair, I think Williams-Callis misunderstood what Wiltfong said. The recruiting analyst was making a prediction based on his own information. He did not claim that he had spoken to the recruit. His prediction was not based on a direct conversation.

Still, Williams-Callis set the record straight. The star running back has not made up his mind or close to it.
