Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss rolled into Auburn for an SEC West college football matchup that always devolves into mayhem. Saturday night was no different!

The Rebels committed 10 penalties, threw two interceptions and converted just two of 11 attempts on third down. And yet, they still totaled 425 yards of offense in a 28-21 win over Hugh Freeze and the Tigers.

It marked Ole Miss’ first win at Auburn since 2015 and just its third win in 20 road games at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Beating Freeze, who resigned from his role in Oxford after getting caught calling escorts on a university-issued cellphone, made it just that much sweeter.

As did a peculiar tweet from the home team during pregame. For some unknown reason, the Tigers’ official X account posted a photo of the two head coaches at midfield.

The caption read “Coach Freeze and a fan.” After the win, the Rebels responded with a new caption that more accurately represented the contest and its result.

Ole Miss’ savagery did not stop there. It posted a video that buried Mississippi sports reporter Jon Sokoloff for his false report about Lane Kiffin switching jobs during the offseason, while also burying Auburn.

And then Kiffin’s son, Knox(ford), got in on the action.

He trolled the Tigers with Cam Newton’s signature ‘dab’ on the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2015 when Lane was the offensive coordinator at Alabama. Knox did it again eight years later.

Not only did Ole Miss beat Auburn on the field, it won the social media battle as well. Knox, Lane, and the Rebels got the last laugh with multiple wins over Freeze and the Tigers.

Unfortunately, due to the new SEC scheduling model, these two teams will not play again next season. We will have to wait at least two years for the rematch!
