Apparently itching to get himself back in the headlines now that basketball season is around the corner, NBA legend LeBron James hopped on Twitter over the weekend to claim he picked the Detroit Lions to beat the Green Bay Packers in their Thursday Night Football matchup last week.

“Y’all know I love football. With that said I’m thinking about doing my picks of the week(NFL games) tomorrow on IG live before they start. I did pick Detroit over GB TNF. Anyways we’ll see,” LeBron tweeted on Saturday.

Naturally, LeBron got absolutely roasted for the tweet given his history of telling bald-faced lies for seemingly no reason.

Making the whole thing even more embarrassing for the Los Angeles Lakers forward, however, is the fact that the two picks he gave out were not only losers but on the wrong end of two of the biggest blowouts of the weekend.

“Obviously, it’s always difficult starting a rookie quarterback. He [Dorian Thompson-Robinson] played extremely well, obviously, during the preseason. We know it’s preseason but the reps is reps and he looked really good,” LeBron said while explaining why he liked the Browns on Sunday.

“Baltimore is always going to be a tough defense, anytime you’re staring at Roquan Smith, Patrick Queen, and the rest of those guys defensively. But also, you gotta stare at our defense too. We got the number one defense in the league right now,” he said.

LeBron — who is looking off-camera for the majority of the video, as if he’s reading a script — then reaches off-screen as if he’s scrolling through a laptop and begins to explain why he likes the Pittsburgh Steelers (I took the Texans moneyline, not to brag).

The Steelers were favored by 3 points on the road over the Texans and the Browns were favored by 2.5 at home against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.  Ultimately, though, the Steelers lost by 24 and the Browns lost by 25, good for a combined 49-point loss. Thanks, LeBron!
