We are on what feels like day 100 of LeBron James watch as the superstar free agent has yet to decide which NBA team he’ll player for during the 2026-27 season.

But according to James’s agent, Rich Paul, his client isn’t close to making a decision, and that’s due in part to the fact that he already made up his mind, but then changed it again.

Paul made the revelation about James’s decision-making process during an episode of “NBA Today” on ESPN Tuesday afternoon.

LeBron James Backtracked On His Free Agency Decision

When James initially hit free agency, the Golden State Warriors were the overwhelming favorite to land his signature. Since that point, several other teams have entered the equation.

The Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers have all been heavily linked with James. NBA executives believe James is down to the Warriors and Cavaliers, while ESPN reporters believe the 76ers, Heat, and Cavaliers are the most-likely options.

The confusion, it seems, lies in the fact that James himself doesn’t know the answer.

“Perk, listen man. This has nothing to do with money,” Paul told ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins. “The teams that are at the top of (Lebron’s) list, they’re all gonna pay the same dollar amount. He’s not asking a team to move anybody that’s contradicting what they standing for. It’s not about the money, it’s about the fit.

“He’s had his mind made up…and then all of a sudden he’s changed his mind and he’s back to the drawing board again”

Perhaps that means that Golden State was the choice and then James thought again. Or perhaps he planned on a Cleveland homecoming before getting a pitch from the new-look Sixers.

Either way, it doesn’t sound as if a decision is coming anytime soon.
