After reports of Bronny James falling out of ESPN’s 2024 NBA Mock Draft hit the news cycle earlier this week, LeBron James, as he’s been known to do, chimed in.

Taking to Twitter to defend his son, who is in his freshman season at USC, LeBron asked the sports world to “let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball.”.

“Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball. The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!” LeBron said in a since-deleted tweet.

The only problem with LeBron’s comments, however, is the fact that they’re quite hypocritical.

Not only has it been well-known and widely reported that LeBron wants to suit up in the NBA with his son Bronny, but he’s also fired off tweets in the past gloating about how Bronny is “better than some of” the players in the NBA.

“Man Bronny definitely better than some of these cats I’ve been watching on league pass today. S— lightweight hilarious,” LeBron tweeted in March 2023.

This certainly isn’t new for LeBron, as his habit of “lying” has become so popularized that it’s now a meme.

Thus far during his freshman season at the University of Southern California, 19-year-old Bronny James  is averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

As for ESPN’s mock drafts, not only did they bump Bronny back to 2025 but they also currently project that he’ll be a second-round pick.

If Bronny James does return to USC for another year, that means LeBron will have to play in the NBA through the 2025-26 season if he’s going to have a shot of realizing his dream of playing with his son in the league.
