While LiAngelo Ball may not have made it in the NBA the way that he and his father hoped he would, he’s having a promising second act in the music world. Ball released the hit single “Tweaker” in January and it quickly rose to the top of the charts thanks in large part to players around the NBA playing and promoting the song.
Ball parlayed the hit song into a massive record deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group that pays him $8 million guaranteed and as much as $13 million. Additionally, Ball has seemingly found his way into superstardom, as evidenced by the fact that Southern University’s legendary Human Jukebox marching band played the song at a recent show in Los Angeles.

Southern University Marching Band Puts New Twist On LiAngelo Ball’s ‘Tweaker’
“The name; Human Jukebox was applied to the band because they could play the current ‘top 40’s,’ according to the program’s official website. And they certainly proved that right with this incredible version of one of the country’s most popular songs.
Asked about the song’s meaning specifically, Ball recently said “Like, someone might see Melo and be like, ‘Oh, yeah, he’s tweaking,'” referring to his younger brother LaMelo. “[He] might spaz out, say some words loud.”
Meanwhile, things appear to be trending upward for the enitre Ball family. Lonzo is finally healthy and back on the court for the Chicago Bulls, while LaMelo is having the best scoring season of his career despite missing the NBA all-star game.
It may have taken a bit more time than he expected, but it looks like LaVar Ball’s master plan is all coming together after all.
