There’s no better way to be reminded of the inevitable passage of time than discovering the child of a college football player you watched growing up is suiting up for a school. There are also some twists on the formula, like the fact that Lil Wayne’s son is a high school kicker who could suit up for Colorado next season.
You don’t need to be a genius to figure out why there have been a ton of college football players who were born to a father who also played at that level. In addition to winning the genetic lottery, they are usually able to reap the benefits of having access to the knowledge and training of someone who knows what you have to do to make it there.
However, that’s not the only way to get a leg up on the competition. Money may not be able to buy talent, but the camps, coaching, and other resources you have access to when you have wealthy parents can come in very handy when it comes to pursuing your athletic dreams.
That’s certainly the case with Dwayne Carter III, a high school kicker whose name you probably recognize if you’re familiar with Lil Wayne—and one you could be hearing on Saturdays in the not-so-distant future based on how he’s faring at the high school level.

Lil Wayne has four children, and his oldest son is Dwayne Carter III, who he had with Sarah Vivan in 2008.
The younger Carter is a high school placekicker and punter who previously played at North Atlanta, but he transferred to Gainesville, the eighth-ranked Georgia powerhouse that kicked off his senior season on the road against top-ranked Buford in front of 12,000 fans in a game that aired on ESPN2 on August 22nd.
Carter’s Red Elephants ended up on the wrong end of a 39-19 result, but he did what he could to contribute to the cause by making both of the field goals he attempted (a 35-yarder and a 25-yarder) in the contest.

There’s no telling what the future holds for the soon-to-be 18-year-old, but he could be heading to a kicker’s paradise in Boulder under Deion Sanders, as he revealed he got his first Division I scholarship offer from Colorado at the end of June.
Good for him.
