Lincoln Saltdogs manager James Frisbie launched first base in rage during a spit-filled tirade at a professional baseball game in Nebraska. His last name checks out.
It is one of the greatest ejections you will ever see!
Rarely, if ever, do we see this kind of behavior in baseball anymore. Th
Who are the Lincoln Saltdogs?
Unless you are the biggest seamhead on planet earth and/or live in Nebraska, you have probably never heard of the Saltdogs. I was not aware of their existence until I came across this viral video. They are an independent professional baseball team based out of Haymarket Park in Lincoln. They played their first season in 2001.
The Saltdogs started with the Northern League. They are members of the American Association of Professional Baseball as of 2006. Lincoln won the Western Division in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2014 and 2017. It also won a league championship in 2009.
James Frisbie was hired as the team’s eighth manager in November of 2019. However, he did not end up coaching a single game for the Saltdogs because of the pandemic. The Detroit Tigers ultimately hired him as a batting coach in 2021. He also spent three years with the Washington Nationals as the batting practice pitcher.
Lincoln’s initial hire came full-circle in January when the organization announced the rehiring of Frisbie as manager. His first real season at the helm has not gone particularly well through the first 29 games. The Saltdogs currently sit fourth in the Western Division and eighth in the league at 12-17. There are 22 games remaining before the All-Star Break.
Although the record may not show it, Frisbie and his team are fighting hard. Especially the former.

Lincoln hosted the Winnipeg Goldeyes for a three-game home series on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Saltdogs won each of the first two games to claim victory in the series. We are only focused on the bottom of the sixth inning.
Infielder Calyn Halvorson knocked a ground ball up the middle. Winnipeg struggled to get the ball over to the first baseman, who had to stretch to prevent a passed ball. It appeared as though he might’ve stepped off of the bag. Halvorson was still called out.
Frisbie disagreed with the call. He stormed out of the dugout with a mouth full of chew to give the umpire a piece of his mind. Spit started flying. The umpire promptly threw him out of the game.
In old school fashion, Frisbie did not leave quietly. The first-year manager launched first base to the moon and kicked the base line.

I would imagine this kind of behavior results in a one-game suspension (or more) but I am not familiar with the rules of the American Association. Lincoln went on to win the game after its manager was ejected.
