A wild story is making headlines throughout the college football world this weekend involving a pair of former Auburn University student-athletes. The news involves a former Tiger cheerleader and her football player husband.

Lindsay Shiver has been charged with plotting to kill Robert Shiver, her estranged husband. Her plan was unearthed somewhat accidentally as authorities investigated an unrelated break-in.

Robert Shiver was a long snapper for the Tigers between 2006 and 2008. He met his wife, Lindsay, while attending the school as she was a member of the cheer squad at the same time.

The couple has three children together, but Robert filed for divorce after learning of an affair according to the New York Post. She reportedly met her lover, Terrance Bethel, while in the Bahamas near a home the family owned.

Lindsay then plotted with Bethel and another man to take out her soon-to-be ex.

The Bahamas Court News was the first to report the arrest. They say that while investigating a break-in at a local bar in Great Guana Cay, police came across text messages in the phone of a suspect incriminating the trio in the plot to kill.

Lindsay Shiver has since been charged in the hit scheme.

It seems the couple spent plenty of time in the Bahamas based on Lindsay Shiver’s Instagram page.

There are also a number of photos showing the two at Auburn sporting events with their children.

After his time with the Tigers, Robert tried his luck at the NFL. He signed with the Falcons in 2009 but was cut before the season’s start.

Lindsay, on top of being a Tigers cheerleader, was also named Miss Houston County in 2005 and placed second in the National Peanut Festival pageant that same year.

The NY Post writes that Lindsay paid a would-be hitman to kill Robert after he filed for divorce. She, along with the two other men involved in the plot, were transported from Guana Cay to Nassau after being arrested.

They have a court hearing scheduled for October 5th.
