Lions‘ Amon-Ra St. Brown, the talented wide receiver who had a standout rookie season in 2021, continues to carry a notebook containing the names of the 16 wide receivers drafted ahead of him.

Despite his impressive performance, St. Brown remains motivated by those who were chosen before him, using the list as a constant reminder of his goals and aspirations.

In an interview on NFL Total Access with Mike Yam, St. Brown confessed that he still thinks about the receivers drafted before him. He maintains a notebook in which he writes down his personal goals for the season, along with the names and college affiliations of those 16 receivers.

Before every practice, St. Brown reads the list three times to ensure it stays fresh in his mind, serving as a powerful source of motivation.

The list includes notable names such as Ja’Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle, but it also features players who have already left their original teams, like Elijah Moore and Amari Rodgers.

Interestingly, despite being drafted after all of them, St. Brown has outperformed every receiver on the list.

With 196 receptions, he has tied the record for the most catches in NFL history through a player’s first two seasons, sharing the accolade with Vikings Justin Jefferson and Saints Michael Thomas.

The Lions’ first challenge this season will be the NFL Kickoff Game against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
