In April, reports indicated that the Lions had extended a “strong offer” to Bridgewater, potentially leading to a reunion with head coach Dan Campbell from their New Orleans Saints days.

Currently, the Lions have Jared Goff as their starting quarterback, and they re-signed Nate Sudfeld during the offseason to serve as his backup. The team added Hendon Hooker in the 2023 Draft, but he’s expected to miss the season due to rehabilitating a torn ACL.

Teddy Bridgewater, 30, is entering his 10th season in the NFL, his most recent stint was with the Miami Dolphins last season.

Originally selected as a first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, Bridgewater rapidly established himself as one of the league’s most promising young quarterbacks at the time, earning a Pro-Bowl trip during his tenure.

However, Bridgewater’s career faced a significant setback in 2016 when a devastating knee injury kept him out for the entire 2016 season and most of 2017.

Nevertheless, Bridgewater eventually made a triumphant comeback in the 2019 season, taking over as the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints in the absence of Drew Brees.

During that time, he led the team to an impressive 5-0 record, passing for 1,384 yards and nine touchdowns in those five games.

After signing a substantial three-year, $63 million contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, Bridgewater was later traded to the Denver Broncos in the offseason, exchanging him for a sixth-round draft pick.

With his experience and talent, Bridgewater provides a quality backup option to any team that signs him.
