Texas Longhorns fans are in for a rude awakening when their school makes the move to the SEC next season. The Southeastern Conference is notorious for being ruthless toward opponents and their fanbases, which does not bode well for the fanbase in Austin based on their reaction to some jeers after Saturday’s game against Baylor.

No. 3-ranked Texas traveled into Waco and stomped the home team by a score of 38-6. The Bears got a pair of field goals in the first half and that was it. They never stood a chance.

Through the first four games of the season, the Longhorns look like legitimate national title contenders. Steve Sarkisian has a really good team and they’re on a roll.

One of the most famous traditions in college football is the singing of ‘The Eyes of Texas.’ There has been some controversy surrounding the song in recent years, but Sarkisian promised that his players will stand to sing the school’s fight song after every game— win or lose, home or away.

It was an away game on Saturday but Longhorns fans rolled deep and made it look like a home game. They were in full voice as they belted out The Eyes of Texas following a dominant win.

However, as they sang, Baylor fans tried to drown them out with boos and jeers. The Bears contingency also threw the ‘Horns Down’ symbol during the song.

*GASP* HOW COULD THEY DO SUCH A THING?!

One Texas fan named Charlie took issue with how the opposing fanbase acted during The Eyes of Texas. He was very angry and found Baylor’s actions to be classless.

While there is a case to be made that booing the opposing team’s fight song after a loss is a bit embarrassing, what did Charlie expect? Did he think that the Bears fans were going to remove their hats and put their hands over the hearts? Did he expect them to cheer in favor of the team that beat them?

C’mon, Charlie! If this is how Texas fans are acting after some fairly subdued behavior in Waco, they are not going to do well in the SEC.

There is a group of Louisianimals down in Baton Rouge who are chomping at the bit to get after the Longhorns. Florida Gators fans are not going to take kindly to the opposing fight song being played at The Swamp. Tennessee orange-clad Volunteers fans will not be quick to open their arms and welcome the burnt orange.

Get ready, Charlie. Get ready, Texas fans. The SEC is waiting for you and it’s a lot more hostile than Waco.
