Louisville infielder Tanner Shiver could have the craziest three days in college baseball history if the Cardinals can advance to the College World Series finals. His literal wedding would happen on the off day prior to the championship series!
It is a big “if” but he is already manifesting the chaos.
Shiver, a senior, began his college baseball career at Tennessee Tech. The Volunteer State-native actually played wide receiver for the Golden Eagles at first. He later transitioned from the gridiron to the diamond prior to 2023. His breakout year in 2024 allowed him to hit the portal and transfer up.
Regardless of how the rest of this current season plays out over the next few days and weeks, Shiver’s decision to play for Louisville proved to be a good one. The 5-foot-10 righty made it to Omaha.
Here’s the thing. The Cardinals are just three wins away from the College World Series Finals. They would need to win on June 18 and/or June 19 to get there. The championship series is scheduled to begin on June 21.
Tanner Shiver is getting married on June 20. That is a definite. There are no questions about it. He will say “I do” and marry his fiancée on Friday, June 20.
Louisville could still be playing baseball on the day before and the day after the wedding. If that does happen, Shiver is going to fly home from Omaha to Maryville, Tennessee on the night of the 19th or the morning of the 20th, get married, and fly back to Omaha on the night of the 20th after the reception.
Louisville’s Tanner Shiver is getting married on June 20th, the off day before the national championship 😳

The good news for the Cardinals is this. Tanner Shiver has not been in the lineup since May 20 and hit less than .200 on the year so his busy schedule would not have a huge impact on the game. He likely was not and is not going to play in the championship series anyway. Otherwise it could be a much bigger issue.
With that being said, for Tanner Shiver to get married and win a national championship in the same weekend would be pretty insane. Louisville baseball has to get there first before the wedding comes into play!
