The SEC is trying to crack down on fan bases storming the field, and for good reason. An altercation like the one that happened between an LSU player and an Ole Miss student storming the field on Saturday.

The altercation turned physical, and it doesn’t look good for either party. Here it is. I definitely do not agree with the characterization of the event by the tweet caption, for the record.

Yikes. This is not good at all. First off, the SEC has made it clear that you should not be storming the field. Ole Miss was hit with a $100,000 fine for letting fans on the field. And, this fan should not have run into the LSU player, shouting expletives about LSU in the process.

But, you can simply not push down a fan. It’s a bad look, to say the least. You have to keep your composure there at all costs and just keep walking.

It’s reminiscent of the situation at LSU last year when Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton made contact with a female Tennessee fan.

I was a college student not long ago who did storm the field once. And, it’s really fun. The problem is, we are probably lucky some of these situations haven’t been worse than what they have been. I think teams are going to have to start upping security measures to keep fans off the field. That’s easier said than done, of course.

Hopefully this incident doesn’t overshadow what was a classic game between Ole Miss and LSU. The Rebels rallied from down nine points in the fourth quarter to win a back-and-forth thriller, 55-49.
