In video game news, for some reason, on Thursday Madden NFL 21 added Milwaukee Bucks superstar and 2020 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to the game as a football player.

Fans are very confused.

Not only is Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is from Athens, Greece, now available in Madden NFL 21’s “The Yard” 6-on-6 game mode so are his brothers Kostas and Thanasis. Because that makes sense.

Has Giannis lowkey been a big football guy all this time? Because I’ve never heard his name mentioned once when it comes to basketball players who love football.

LeBron James? Yes. That would be fun. But Giannis? I… guess?

“To pay homage to where the Antetokounmpo Brothers’ fell in love with basketball, custom gear displaying nods to their childhoods in Greece will be available in The Yard as well,” reads a press release.

Well, at 6-foot-11 and with a 87-inch wingspan Giannis will certainly get some serious targets in the red zone.

Then again, maybe he will be his team’s center, even though he plays forward in basketball. We know he’s got the skills to pull that much off.

Fan reaction to this odd bit of video game news was all over the map.
