Magic Johnson Pens Scathing Rebuke Of Washington Commanders After Blowout Loss To Chicago Bears

The Washington Commanders laid a massive egg on Thursday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, and team co-owner Magic Johnson was not at all happy about.

Johnson, along with majority owner Josh Harris, took control of the team earlier this year when Harris completed his purchase of the team from previous owner Dan Snyder.

Although he owns just four percent of the team, Johnson is making his voice heard when it comes to the team’s performance.

After Thursday’s 40-20 loss to the Bears, a game which Washington trailed 27-3 half, Johnson took to social media to show his displeasure with the performance.

“Tonight the Commanders played with no intensity or fire. We didn’t compete in the first half and got down 27-3 heading into halftime. It was too big of a hole to climb out of and that is why we ended up losing 40-20,” Johnson tweeted.

On one hand, it’s rare to see an owner, especially a minority own, speak so bluntly about their team.

On the other, Commanders fans loved that Johnson is willing to tell it how it is.

Fans want changes now Magic. We know what is inevitable and we know what we’ve had in 4 years. Make the change man,” one fan replied to Johnson.

Magic, great insight! Can you please let Mr. Harris know it’s time to make changes at the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator positions,” said another.

The loss dropped coach Ron Rivera and co. to 2-3 on the year.

Washington has not had a winning season since 2016 and has only made the playoffs five times since the turn of the century. The Commanders have not won a playoff game since 1992.

So the frustration is understandable.

Whether or not Johnson, and more importantly Harris, can make the changes necessary to turn things around is something that only time will tell.
