The Miami Hurricanes secured in-state bragging rights by besting rival Florida State on Saturday. After the win, head coach Mario Cristobal used the outcome as a recruiting pitch.

He shaded Sunshine State programs FSU and Florida while flaunting his team’s 8-0 start.

“All recruits, in-state and out of state, can clearly see the trajectory of this program versus the other programs (in the state),” he said after the 36-14 blowout of the ‘Noles.

How quickly things can change in a year!

Last season, Mario Cristobal was on the hot seat having compiled an overall record of 12-13 through two seasons. Florida State, meanwhile, won the ACC with a perfect regular season.

Fast forward to this fall and it’s the ‘Canes who are atop the league standings while the Seminoles are now 1-7 after the loss to Miami.

Cristobal didn’t have much to talk about in Years 1 and 2. He wasn’t letting the opportunity slip away after his first sign of success!

Miami previously bested Florida in the 2024 season opener, dismantling the Gators 41-17. After that game, it was Miami players trying to swipe recruits from a rival.

Now, it’s their head coach!

The Hurricanes are a legitimate College Football Playoff threat, and they control their own destiny in the ACC race. Mario Cristobal insists that Miami is BACK – and it’s not going anywhere but up!

That can’t be said for his rivals.

Miami is playing for a national championship. All of the team’s goals are still in front of them. Florida State and Florida, meanwhile, could be watching from home come bowl season.

Cristobal made sure to let everyone know about the contrast in trajectories!
