Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL on his left knee last week. He sustained the injury while training for a competitive MMA fight that was set to take place next year.
Nobody on planet Earth looks forward to an ACL tear or the recovery process but Mark Zuckerberg is clearly going into the long haul with a sense of humor. Zuck just revived the ‘record scratch … freeze frame … Yup, that’s me’ meme. It’s a classic meme template that first hit the Internet back on June 13th, 2015 according to KnowYourMeme.
Zuck’s latest Reels is a montage of his MMA training with the caption “Recovery is going well so far. But for those wondering how I got here…” and thousands upon thousands of people quickly chimed in to wish him a speedy recovery from ACL surgery:
UFC’s Mike ‘Beast Boy’ Davis commented “MMA is the hardest yet funnest life.” FullsendMMA wrote “Zuck is a certified MMA bro.” The @Wealth account wrote “They need to add Zuck to UFC” to which at least 10 accounts commented and agreed. Everyone is in Mark’s corner right now and wants to see him get in the octagon at some point.
It’s also evident that Mark’s been working extremely hard. The whole world knew that back in July when he shared a shirtless pic alongside Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya.
And based on the clips in his latest Reels, Zuck had his foot on the gas petal all Summer and into the Fall prior to his recent injury that necessitated ACL surgery:

We joked last week that MZ is now on a clear path to come back with ‘cyborg strength’ because he has access to the finest health care on planet earth. Another ace up Zuck’s sleeve as he recovers from ACL surgery is the fact that he’s currently in incredible shape. The recovery time is drastically reduced for individuals in peak physical condition and MZ definitely checks that box at the moment.
Prior to setting his sights on a competitive MMA fight early next year all of the talk was about a fight against Elon Musk. Ultimately, it seemed as if Elon Musk used that as nothing more than a chance to keep his name in the news while Zuckerberg has been training with some of the world’s best MMA fighters.
Zuckerberg would later say he only wants to compete “Zuckerberg only wants to compete with people “who take the sport seriously” and Elon most certainly did not fit that bill.
