Matt Gogel has been suspended for gambling on golf.
Matt Gogel has been suspended for six months for violating the PGA Tour’s Integrity Program. He admittedly bet on golf in the 2024 and 2025 campaigns.
That ruling will cost him part of his 2026 season, and as a result, the potential payouts.
Gogel’s suspension runs from August 23rd of this year to February 22nd of 2027. The golfer will miss 11 events. Based on past history, that could cost him upwards of $250,000.

Matt Gogel can’t get paid.
Gogel has been on PGA Tour Champions since 2020. He was forced to retire from the PGA Tour after seven years due to injury.
Since joining the Champions Tour, he’s banked $2.68 million. That includes a career-best $776,133 this year. His earnings have increased each of the last four seasons.
Unfortunately, he’s thrown away his opportunity to continue boosting that total.
Gogel gambled on “PGA Tour competition but did not bet on tournaments in which he was a participant.” The golfer released a statement on the suspension after the fact.

He has taken accountability, though he said he didn’t “knowingly” violate the integrity policy. He also noted that the wagers were not placed on “regular PGA Tour events, PGA Tour Champions events, or any tournament in which (he) participated.”
Gogel has played in 18 events this year. He’s made 18 cuts. He will miss the final 11.
How much with Matt Gogel lose while suspended?
It has not been revealed how much he wagered or the results of his bets. We can estimate some sort of financial repercussion, though.
It’s difficult to place an exact amount on the losses. Judging by his past performance, we can assume it will be north of six figures.
Below are his combined payouts from tournaments played between August 23rd and February 22nd in prior seasons. He’s cleared $200,000 in three of his five campaigns.
2020: five events, $205,309 earnings
2022: two events, $6,300 earnings
2023: four events, $65,370 earnings
2024: seven events, $248,113 earnings
2025: seven events, $273,034 earnings
Gogel has made around a quarter-of-a-million dollars on the back end of the PGA Tour Champions schedule each of the last two years.
Given his success this season, it’s not farfetched to believe he’d match or eclipse that total again this year. He’s been playing his best golf.
No, the money would not have been guaranteed. But for all intents and purposes, he’s losing out on a six-figure payout as a result of the suspension.
The previous $200,000 boosts seen years past will not be reflected in his bank account this season.
