“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile cry because it happened.” -The Mitch Trubisky Era

Bears coach Matt Nagy is taking heat Monday morning after pulling Mitch Trubisky late in the fourth quarter of the Bears 17-7 loss to the Rams in favor of….Chase Daniel.

Daniel went 1-4 with 9 yards and was sacked twice to close the game, dropping the Bears to 4-6, a record particularly hard to swallow after finishing last season 12-4 and atop the NFC North.

After the game, Nagy claimed he replaced Trubisky, who completed 24-for-43 with 190 yards and one touchdown and one interception, with Chase Daniel due to a nagging hip injury Trubisky suffered earlier in the game.

“It was all based off of he just wasn’t feeling right. His hip was hurting him,” Nagy said. “We knew it a few series earlier that something wasn’t right.”

In a particularly intimate moment before pulling his quarterback, Nagy got close enough to Trubisky to nibble on his ear before reportedly telling him he needed to “be honest” about the severity of his injury.

The tender moment provided some light-hearted content for Bears fans during a season of perpetual disappointment.

Let the Chase Daniel era commence!

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
