Despite reports that Matt Ryan had reached out to the New York Jets in an effort to pitch himself as Aaron Rodgers’ replacement, the veteran quarterback recently roasted Gang Green by saying he has “no interest” in joining the team.

Speaking on CBS Sports earlier this week, the current broadcaster — who hasn’t officially retired — says he has no interest in signing with the team to help fill the Aaron Rodgers void.

“No, not on my end. I’m really enjoying what I’m doing working with Andrew [Canton] and Tiki [Barber], they’ve been fun to work with,” Ryan said.

“To clear it up, obviously my agent is one of the best at what he does. Todd France is incredible. And he wouldn’t be doing his job if he wasn’t looking into certain situations. But he and I talked and I got no interest in doing that right now.”

Despite his struggles in Indianapolis last season — Ryan posted a 4-7-1 record while completing 67% of his passes for 3,057 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions — the former MVP would undoubtedly be a massive upgrade over current Jets starter Zach Wilson.

Wilson’s status as the Jets’ starting quarterback is so toxic, in fact, that reports indicate it has the Jets’ locker room “ready to implode” as the defense apparently thinks head coach Robert Saleh is coming off as a “Zach Wilson apologist.”

The Jets now find themselves in the position of heading into their upcoming Sunday Night Football matchup (the franchise’s first since 2012) against the Kansas City Chiefs with Wilson and recently signed journeyman Trevor Siemian as their options at quarterback.

While Rodgers has previously indicated he intends on rehabbing his Achilles and returning to the team — possibly even this season — the situation in New York might be such a mess by the time he’s healthy that he ultimately decides not to.

Although he’s remained staunch in his loyalty to Wilsonl, there simply has to be a point where Saleh cuts his loses and does what’s best for not just the offense, but the team and the fanbase as a whole.
