The McNeese State basketball team was seen brutally trolling Louisiana after a come from behind win over the Rajin’ Cajuns on Sunday. The social media team was working overtime to rag on the instate program, and the Cowboys’ conference jumped in on the fun at UL’s expense.

McNeese State, led by former LSU head coach Will Wade, is off to a hot start in the 2023 season. Entering this weekend’s matchup at 9-2, the Cowboys have already picked up wins over VCU and UAB while also beating up on smaller programs like the College of Biblical Studies and Mississippi University for Women.

Their most recent test came in the form of a Louisiana squad that was looking to pull the upset for Bayou State bragging rights.

The Rajin’ Cajuns appeared on their way to doing so, holding a 13-point lead in the second half of action. The Cowboys were able to cut into that deficit, however, and take a late lead on a huge three-pointer from DJ Richards.

That shot came with just over 45 seconds left on the clock, helping McNeese State escape with a 74-72 victory, and they’d let everyone know about the rivalry win online.

The social team went crazy on X, creating post after post to flex on UL.

They made sure to add that extra “L” onto the program formerly known as Louisiana-Lafayette’s name.

But it didn’t stop with the Cowboys. League pride was soon expressed as the Southland Conference began mocking the Rajin’ Cajuns after the loss, too.

Louisiana fans became irate upon becoming the butt of an ongoing joke, clapping back with insults. One particular UL supporter responded, “Signature win for the conference, I guess?” after seeing the Southland jump in on the trolling.

It landed an immediate reply to further bury the Louisiana program.

A tough night on and off the court for the Ragin’ Cajuns. They’ll look to rebound on Friday against Rice.

McNeese State, meanwhile, will savor this victory before stepping back onto the basketball court for a matchup with Michigan.
