Michigan, the #2 ranked team in the nation, is starting to feel the heat over their sign-stealing scandal.

Last week, it was revealed that a Michigan staffer illegally scouted opponent’s games in person to decipher teams’ sideline signals.

Connor Stalions, a football analyst with the Wolverines and a retired captain in the United States Marine Corps, is a person of interest in the investigation into whether No. 2-ranked Michigan violated an NCAA rule by scouting future opponents in person at games, sources said. The NCAA prohibited such scouting in 1994.

Sources said the NCAA enforcement staff’s level of interest in Stalions is so significant it sought access to his computer as part of its investigation. Sources indicated that the process is underway, although it’s uncertain what investigators will find.

Media members are beginning to call on the Big Ten to drop the hammer on Michigan.

The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel is calling for Michigan to be banned from the Big Ten Championship game, which would likely keep them out of playoff contention.

“If there’s already this much reported evidence of a scheme to illegally gain an on-field advantage, the Big Ten should consider banning Michigan from its championship game,”

College football writer Jon Wilner wants Michigan banned from the postseason altogether.

“The Big Ten should ban Michigan from the postseason. Elaborate, premeditated, resource-heavy, multi-year effort to gain a competitive advantage. Pretty simple, really.”

It’s unclear what will happen to Michigan as more information comes out, but things aren’t trending in a good direction for them.
