The Memphis Tigers basketball season has been nothing short of abysmal this year.

Memphis has made headlines for all the wrong reasons all season long. The Tigers began the year as a Top 20 team with the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation and now find themselves 11-8 not even on the NCAA Tournament bubble with just nine games left on the regular-season schedule.

While it’s been a trainwreck of a season thus far, Memphis has still managed to remain a talking point in college hoops circles thanks to their coaches and players being honest with the media.

Three weeks ago head coach Penny Hardaway cursed out the media after a reporter asked him a totally legitimate question. While Hardaway has rightfully been criticized for how he handled himself, Memphis forward Josh Minott should be applauded for his latest quote for the media.

Josh Minott Has An Interest In Currency

Minott was asked the very simple question of what interests he has outside the game of basketball. Instead of saying something generic like cooking, video games, or anything along those lines, he decided to deliver the quote of the year.

“I feel like we’re all pretty interested in the pursuit of currency,” Minott told Geoff Calkins of The Daily Memphian.

From this moment forward, the human race needs to erase phrases like ‘chasing bread,’ ‘getting paper,’ and even ‘earning money’ from everyday talk. ‘Pursuit of currency’ is now the new go-to saying for going out and earning a buck.

Minott seems to be a pretty confident guy and right now he has every reason to be. He’s managed to score 18 and 13 points in each of Memphis’ last two games, respectively.
