Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll are taking two very different approaches to life after their divorce. The country music singer decided to take time away from the spotlight to “heal” while his ex-wife hits the streets.
Those are their words, not mine.
One of the most high-profile divorces in recent history has led to an unexpected sequence of events. I am not so sure it ended as amicably as they would like us to think.
Jelly Roll is taking time off.
Even if the couple did their best to keep things civil, the divorce got messy in a hurry. Jelly Roll hired one of the most ruthless lawyers in Nashville while rumors started to swirl about the end of their relationship. He was “all hopped up on testosterone” in the Music City dating pool. She was not quite ready to get back out there.
And then the script seemingly flipped.
Bunnie Xo (jokingly) compared her marriage to Jelly Roll to a 10-year prison sentence and revealed the amount of rappers who slid into her DMs. She also smooched a 24-year-old reality television character at her ex-husband’s bar on the 4th of July.
Around that same time, the divorce became official. Bunnie Xo brought the 24-year-old with her to purchase a $500,000 Rolls Royce, bought a new property in Los Angeles (even though she got to keep the Tennessee compound in the divorce), and went under the knife for a cosmetic procedure.
Meanwhile, Jelly Roll wrapped up his ‘Little Ass Shed Tour’ and closed out the last few dates on Post Malone’s ‘Big Ass Stadium Tour.’ He only addressed the divorce once. We did not hear a lot from him in the tabloids.
The country music singer later announced at the end of July that he is going to take a break. Jelly Roll said he is “fixing to take some time off and heal.” He hopes to return refreshed in a year or two. Until then, don’t expect to see or hear much of/from him.
Bunnie Xo is living her best life after the divorce.
While Jelly Roll fades into the background, his ex-wife is stepping into the foreground. Bunnie Xo joined Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones on the TODAY Show to talk about her memoir and life after her divorce. “Baddie Bunnie Summer” has been great.
“They never should have let me back out in the streets because I love it here. I love it here, and I’m never going back.”
Although Bunnie Xo was sad to split from Jelly Roll, she actually considers it to be a huge positive for her life.
“It was beautifully tragic. I got my smile back and my smile’s to my ears. I’m having the frickin’ time of my life and I’m just thriving […] I never thought it would turn out to be such a blessing, but it’s such a blessing and I’m so thankful.”
Her DMs are on fire.
“It is a frickin’ smorgasbord. It’s a boy buffet. I have a lot of women in my DMs too.”
She wants to be an inspiration for other women.
“I hope that my journey can show women … I feel like us women, we put ourselves aside for partners, friends, kids. It’s like we don’t pour into ourselves and sometimes, you need to be selfish and you need to pour into yourself.”
Seeing that Jelly Roll decided to step away from the spotlight while Bunnie Xo is promoting a new book on NBC and kissing guys who are half her age, the ex-couple are on two very different paths. They also unfollowed each other on social media, which makes me think there was more to their divorce than they are leading on.
