Soccer superstar Lionel Messi is facing a bit of controversy after his first game in tis year’s World Cup.

On Tuesday, Messi and Argentina faced off against Algeria in their World Cup opening game in Kansas City.

During the game, Messi stepped on his opponent’s leg, which led to a VAR review. The VAR review did not believe Messi deserved a yellow car.

ESPN’s Ale Moreno believes Messi should have gotten a red card, and ejected over the play.

“It’s 100% a red card for Lionel Messi. It should’ve been.”

Messi went on to score two more goals after his yellow card,
