It has seemingly been a while since Tua Tagovailoa could feel confident in his standing with the Miami Dolphins during the offseason.

Last year he entered the offseasons with some speculating the Dolphins were already prepared to move on from him after 2 seasons and there were even reports that his head coach at the time wanted Deshaun Watson.

Tua made it through the offseason still in possession of the starting QB job in Miami and proceeded to put together the best season of his NFL career.

Unfortunately, he suffered multiple concussions along the way, leading some to have concerns about his future.

There had been reports that the Dolphins were taking a look at all options at the position this offseason and plenty of rumors about Tom Brady heading to Miami.

Today the Miami Dolphins gave a pretty definitive answer about where they stand on Tua right now.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo the Dolphins have informed Tua that they’ll be exercising the 5th-year option on his rookie contract.

This should make it pretty clear that the Dolphins are sold on Tua being their starting quarterback for at least the next couple of years and they have good reason to believe that’s the right move.

2022 was the first season Tua had a truly elite receiver to throw to and he took full advantage while healthy. He was on pace to clear 4000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Now the Dolphins will have an affordable option at QB for at least the next 2 years and could get plenty more value out of his production in those seasons.

I guess we can officially put an end to the Tom Brady to the Dolphins rumors.
