One of the biggest stories of the offseason will be the future of former MVP Lamar Jackson, as the 26-year-old quarterback has yet to sign a new contract with the Baltimore Ravens and is set to be a free agent.

According to recent reports, the Miami Dolphins could be one of the many teams that look to make a move for Jackson, despite the fact that they also have 24-year-old signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa — who showed signs of being a franchise quarterback this season — on the roster.

Some believe that Jackson would like to return to his hometown of Miami and play for the Dolphins. Jackson, given the ability of coach Mike McDaniel to draw up game plans that get the most out of the talents of his players, could work very well as a runner and a passer in Miami’s attack.

If Jackson doesn’t sign an offer sheet with another team before the draft, the Dolphins could sign Jackson to an offer sheet after the draft. Then, if the Ravens don’t match, Baltimore would get Miami’s first-round picks in 2024 and 2025. [via ProFootballTalk]

These reports come after the Dolphins reaffirmed their commitment to Tua Tagovailoa as the team’s starting quarterback next season.

“The Dolphins have been pleased with Tagovailoa’s development this season under first-year coach Mike McDaniel. Medical professionals also are confident that Tagovailoa should be able to resume his NFL career next season, if not sooner,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Still, despite the franchise’s apparent faith in Tua, there’s no denying that his recent concussions are a cause for concern, as he missed the final three games of the Dolphins’ season, including the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills, due to concussion symptoms.
