For the past couple of weeks, Miami Heat fans have been waiting to see what their team would add this offseason after falling short in the NBA Finals.

The team was clearly outmatched by the Denver Nuggets and has needed another star to play alongside Jimmy Butler for the past few years.

Over the course of this offseason, the Heat have been linked to a couple of stars who could be that piece they need to remain a contender.

First it was Bradley Beal, but they had another star in mind.

The Heat have been eyeing up Damian Lillard throughout the offseason, but there has been one big problem.

The Blazers didn’t want to trade him and he hadn’t requested a trade.

That changed today.

After the Blazers failed to put together a contender by trading the 3rd pick in this year’s draft or making a major signing, Lillard finally requested a trade today.

Following the trade request, the Heat were among the list of potential landing spots and it seems they are prepared to offer an enticing trade package to the Blazers.

According to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, the Miami Heat are prepared to offer the Blazers a package including Tyler Herro, picks, and possibly Duncan Robinson.

If the Heat really are prepared to give up Herro in the deal, I’m not really sure how anybody else interested can compete.

Herro is already a 20 point per game scorer at 23 years old.

The Nets are reportedly the other team Damian Lillard is interested in playing for. They don’t have a player of Herro’s caliber that they are willing to give up. They also don’t really have any appealing picks to offer.

Herro and Scoot Henderson could form an interesting backcourt for the Blazers for year to come if this deal gets done.

If this is really what they’re ready to offer, it seems like it’s just a matter of time before the Miami Heat bring in Damian Lillard.
