Michael Block is living every golfer’s dream this weekend. The California course pro finds himself near the top of the leaderboard at the PGA Championship.

Block enters Sunday’s final round in a tie for eighth place at even par. His performance thus far has allowed him to pair up with one of the sport’s biggest stars as he closes out the tournament.

Block finds himself in the field at Oak Hill, battling through the tough conditions in Rochester. Cold temperatures and pouring rain have been a theme of the championship event, making things very difficult for players.

But while many grow frustrated with the subpar scenes, Michael Block is enjoying his time to the fullest.

If you don’t recognize the name, you’re not alone. Block is actually a club pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Southern California, where a 60-minute lesson will cost you about $150. He typically spends his time training and teaching players on the course as opposed to competing against them.

This weekend is different, though.

Block got the opportunity to play in the PGA Championship at Oak Hill, and he’s taken full advantage. The feel-good story of the tournament, he currently holds a top 10 spot as he enters his final round.

On Saturday, he learned that he’d be playing that last day alongside Rory McIlroy and his reaction couldn’t have been any better.

Fans can’t seem to get enough.

One person wrote, “Weekend of a lifetime, he is loving it.”

Someone else said, “I can’t even imagine hearing this.”

Michael Block will hope to continue climbing that leaderboard on Sunday afternoon. He teed off at 2PM with his new group member, McIlroy, as the dream weekend continues.
