Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham next to quarterback Bryce Underwood (19) reacts to 20-19 loss to Iowa at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026.
The Michigan Wolverines spent an obscene amount of money to poach five-star in-state quarterback Bryce Underwood away from LSU in the 2025 recruiting class. But through two seasons, Underwood hasn’t lived up to the billing, and Wolverines fans have seen enough.
After Saturday’s 20-14 loss to Minnesota in the battle for the Little Brown Jug, in which Underwood went 10-of-21 for 108 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions, Michigan fans were ready to run Underwood out of town.
They absolutely let loose on the star quarterback on social media, calling for head coach Kyle Whittingham to make a change ASAP.
“Watch Bryce Underwood play another snap for Michigan or go to jail”

On 4th and 5 with the game and season on the line, Bryce Underwood throws the ball 15 yards out of bounds.
That should be his final throw at the University of Michigan for the most overpaid athlete on planet Earth.

Man it’s unreal how bad Bryce Underwood has been. He doesn’t even flash potential. Just inaccurate throws and bad reads.

There is, however, some good news for Michigan fans amid the disaster that has been Underwood’s career.
Kyle Whittingham Has Considered Benching Bryce Underwood
After a previously rough showing in Week 2 against Oklahoma, a game the Wolverines somehow won, Whittingham stated that Underwood’s starting job is far from guaranteed.
“He’s our QB right now,” he told members of the media. “It’s not infinite. At some point, we’ve got to turn the corner. We’ve got to see improvement…
“It’s unfortunate and disappointing, because we see him every day and he was very sharp all through fall camp. I don’t really have an explanation. I hope we see improvements from Game 1 to Game 2.”
Whatever the coaching staff saw in Fall camp, it’s clearly gone now. And Michigan fans are done giving the sophomore leeway.
It’s time to send Bryce Underwood to the transfer portal, he’s not it man. Also Whittingham ain’t the guy….

It’s time to sit Underwood. He sucks. #GoBlue

Let me get this straight? 4th and 5 last hope and you send it 10 yards out of bounds? I’ve seen enough. Underwood enters the portal

Underwood is an extremely gifted athlete. There’s still a world where he becomes a good college quarterback. But he’s a long, long way away from that world at the moment.
