Michigan Football Couldn’t Have Looked Less Excited To Learn They Will Play Alabama In Playoff

There is an argument to be made that Michigan, as the top-seed in the College Football Playoff, got the most difficult draw. The Wolverines will face Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide in the semifinal.

A one-loss Alabama team coming off of a win over Georgia in the SEC Championship is dangerous. Florida State, on its backup quarterback, would have been a much more favorable matchup for Jim Harbaugh and his team.

Their reaction to the announcement says it all. They sounded… less than enthused.

A smattering of applause broke out after a pretty significant pause, and the clapping was not overly energized. One of the players or young staffers even stood to his feet and threw his hands up in the air as if he was disgusted with the decision.

Michigan and Alabama will travel west to square off at the Rose Bowl. One team is undefeated after rolling through an easy schedule— outside of its big win over Ohio State. The other has one loss, to another team in the College Football Playoff, and rallied back from a discouraging start to run the SEC gauntlet and take down the mighty Bulldogs.

Both teams are hard-nosed and physical. Both teams rely on their defense as much as they do their offense.

Michigan vs. Alabama will be a war!

It is going to be an awesome game between two high-profile coaches and two legacy programs. However, where the Wolverines would have been virtually guaranteed a win over the Seminoles, they must face a Crimson Tide side that has really blossomed into its own over the last few weeks.

Clearly, based on their hushed and timid reaction, the guys in Ann Arbor know that it will not be easy to reach the national championship.

Michigan has not won its semifinal matchup in each of the last two years. This draw does not bode well for them to break that streak. There will be blood shed in Pasadena!
