A Michigan Wolverines Hail Mary attempt against Western Michigan seemingly falls short with no time left on the clock.
The Kyle Whittingham Era at Michigan got off to a dramatic start on Saturday night as the Wolverines staved off an upset bid from Western Michigan thanks to a Hail Mary from Bryce Underwood to JJ Buchanan.
However, just moments earlier, it appeared the Wolverines had lost, 12-7, when Underwood’s first attempt at a Hail Mary fell incomplete with no time left on the clock.

The officials then gathered, reviewed the tape, and added one second back on the clock, giving Michigan a second attempt to win the ball game.
But according to the clock shown on NBC’s broadcast, there should not have been a second added, and the Broncos should have walked out of the Big House as winners.

Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to call out refs for the additional second, and many wondered how they came to such a controversial ruling.
Hahahaha. Please stop. There was not a single second left. pic.twitter.com/qlAegTaVvX

Officials have to be held accountable.
Stick those officials at the press conference and explain to America why there was a second left to screw WMU for Michigan to throw a Hail Mary.
They’ll be officiating next week. Zero repercussions for failing their job. Zero

These refs need to face the media and explain how the hell they concluded there was a second left pic.twitter.com/4Gq3Y1e8qr

Listen man…I am not a “cheater, rigged” guy in sports. I’m really not.
But there is absolutely zero camera angles or evidence that 1 second should’ve been added to that clock.
Western Michigan just got cheated out of that win. That is absolute dogshit. pic.twitter.com/64M00j2Rc4

Even members of the media were skeptical of the change.
They’re giving Michigan another second and another shot… for some reason?

That’s grand larceny and it just costs the Western Michigan program everything! An awful call. Much credit to @BryceUnderwoo16 for making a play but how they got an extra second is absolutely a travesty!

What do you think? Was Western Michigan robbed?
