Mikayla Demaiter always had visions of stardom.

But for a while, those visions were of stardom between the pipes on a hockey rink.

Demaiter was once a goaltender at the junior level and was rising through the ranks. But a devastating knee injury forced her to retire in 2019, just before her 19th birthday.

“Dear Hockey,

It is time to say goodbye. It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus.

I want to thank you for the places we’ve gone together. I also want to thank you for all the friends you have made me. My family sends their best as well. I know they will definitely miss seeing us together.

I am excited for the future because everything you have taught me will allow me to succeed. There will still be early mornings, new adventures and new friends, and I hope that I embrace them with the same love and passion I did for you.

Thanks again for everything,” she said in an Instagram post announcing her retirement.

But Demaiter didn’t give up on her dreams of stardom. Instead, she pivoted to modeling and has already built an immensely successful career for herself.

A big reason for that is her mastery of social media. Demaiter has more than two millions followers on her Instagram page.

And when you take a look at her latest viral post, it’s not hard to see why that’s the case.

Demaiter’s latest post, which features her walking around in a crop-top tank and some extremely short jean shorts, garnered nearly 100,000 likes in just six hours.

“A day so rare it’s worthy enough of being a holiday — me smiling on insta,” the caption read.

She also got nearly 3,000 comments in that time frame.

Despite her hockey career ending, Demaiter is clearly a star in the making.
