ESPN has been all over the place lately after firing a large portion of its roster. Some firings are more surprising than others, but still, the company has been busy.

Two people the popular sports company have let go are Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. Dorris Burke and Doc Rivers are expected to replace them calling NBA games.

That’s all fine and dandy, but that means Mike Breen is losing his longtime costars, as he’s been working with Van Gundy and Jackson for about 15 years.

Now, Breen addresses what it’s like losing his costars due to the ESPN firings.

According to The New York Post, Mike Breen is disappointed to see Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson let go. Here’s what he had to say about losing his costars.

“It’s sad because we really thought we had something special and we were able to do it a lot longer than anybody ever did. It’s something we’ll all treasure, but we just wish it was a little bit longer. You don’t expect it, because it was such a great team and to have it completely broken up was a surprise.”

The New York Post also reports that Breen “declined to comment on his potential new partners as nothing is yet official.”

Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, and Mark Jackson worked together at 15 NBA Finals. When you have that much experience with people, it’s no wonder why Breen is upset to see his costars leave.

As of now, Breen is set to return and continue his job at ESPN, but he will have different costars moving forward. Meanwhile, it’s unclear what the future holds for Van Gundy and Jackson.

Perhaps we’ll see them get back into coaching, or maybe they’ll take on announcing jobs at the college level with a different network.

Either way, we should be seeing Van Gundy and Jackson on our televisions at some point.
