There were plenty of questions surrounding the Chicago Bears heading into the current NFL season, as a former OC for the franchise said they had the worse offense he’s seen since the 2008 Detroit Lions (who were the first team in the history of the league to go 0-16).
There was also plenty of pressure on quarterback Justin Fields, who many fans were hoping would be able to take a massive leap in his sophomore campaign following a rookie year that left plenty to be desired.
While the QB got off to a fairly rough start, he turned things around when the Bears made the truly revolutionary decision to adopt a gameplan tailored to his strengths in a victory over New England in Week 7.
Chicago may have fallen to the Dolphins on Sunday in a 35-32 loss that saw them drop to 3-6 on the season. However, it was hard to place much of the blame on their QB, who broke Michael Vick’s single-game rushing record with the 178 total yards he posted with the help of a beautiful 61-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The contest also produced one of the more entertaining clips we’ve been treated to this season—on that came courtesy of Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who was captured jokingly telling Fields to “Stop it” on the sidelines after seemingly getting fed up with his standout performance.

Now, we have some insight into what exactly inspired that viral moment courtesy of the coach himself.
Mike McDaniel explained why he told Justin Fields “Stop it” in a hilarious sideline interaction
McDaniel has quickly cemented himself as one of the more entertaining coaches in the NFL after taking the helm in Miami earlier this year, and he lived up to his reputation yet again while speaking with the media in the wake of the victory on Monday.
During the press conference, he was asked to elaborate on the exchange in question and gave an incredibly on-brand answer.
Mike McDaniel sarcastically explaining why he told Bears QB Justin Fields “stop it” on the sideline during Sunday’s game:
“I just wanted him to stop scrambling, and it was pretty irritating because he didn’t listen at all.” 😂

Here’s what he had to say:
“I just wanted him to stop scrambling.
And it was pretty irritating because he didn’t listen at all. He didn’t take the coaching.”
It may not have worked, but it didn’t hurt to at least try.
