Mike McDaniel, though born and raised in Colorado, is not a fan of cold weather. He has joked about it before and will surely do so again in the future.

McDaniel, like anybody, tried to get warm during Thursday’s game at MetLife Stadium, which was played in temperatures no higher than the mid-40s. It was chilly!

In an effort to get the blood flowing back to his extremities, Mike McDaniel walked over to the heater on the sideline. While standing there, a Jets fan proceeded to chirp him for being soft.

As someone who is unapologetically himself, McDaniel fired back. The hilarious exchange was caught on a hot mic from a camera that just so happened to be placed in the right direction at the right time.

When asked why he was standing near the heater, McDaniel said that it was because he was cold. Duh. And then he proceeded to turn back to the fan with a reminder of the score— which was 27-6 in favor of the visiting Miami Dolphins at that point in the game.

Blunt honesty is always the best policy. It certainly helped that McDaniel had the upper hand in this scenario, given the fact that the fan was chirping him while his team was down by 21.

The staff near the head coach on the sideline was in stitches. Even kicker Jason Sanders couldn’t help but laugh at the exchange.

How the camera ended up in that spot, with the audio running, right as McDaniel got into it with the fan over his body temperature is a mystery. Regardless of the answer, the video made for one of the best viral moments of the entire NFL season.

New York went on to lose by 21. McDaniel went back into the locker room as the victor, and got to defrost with the warmth of a win!
