Mike McDaniel is reacting to the viral story of how he met his wife.

Over the weekend, Al Michaels said that McDaniel once instructed one of his players to stop dancing with a girl at a bar, or he would cut him from the team when he was a running backs coach in the UFL. While the player was away, McDaniel danced with the girl, and she would later become his wife.

“One of the running backs that he’s coaching is dancing with a girl, and Mike says, listen, you’re not dancing with her anymore, or you’re not playing with this team next year.”

“So McDaniel starts dancing with her…four years later, they’re married.”

During the Dolphins’ weekly press conference on Monday, McDaniel cleared up some things about the story.

The first thing McDaniel wanted to address was that he and the player knew he was joking when he told him he would cut him if he didn’t stop dancing with the game.

“The perceived threat that I made to a player was over the top, a joke. consider he and I knew a running back coach, I had no ability to say if he was there or not, it was more in jest.”

McDaniel also wanted everyone to know that he didn’t steal anyone’s girl.

“My wife was telling me that people are talking about me stealing people’s girls…the dude had met her for 45 seconds…I feel like I was painted out to be kind of a d-bag and it wasn’t like that at all ”
