  • Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has yet to inform the team of his decision regarding his future.
  • ESPN NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum recently ripped the NFL MVP for his selfishness.
  • Tannenbaum believes that Rodgers already knows what his decision is going to be and that his silence is costing his teammates money.

During a recent episode of ESPN’s morning show Get Up, Mike Tannenbaum — the former New York Jets general manager and Miami Dolphins executive vice president of football operations — ripped Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the selfishness he’s been displaying in recent weeks and months.

Tannenbaum argues that despite the fact that Rodgers likely knows what his next move is, he’s yet to inform the Green Bay Packers and is costing his teammates money as a result.

“Aaron Rodgers is being selfish. Let’s make no mistake about it. He’s being very selfish. He’s known for a while what he’s going to do,” Tannenbaum said on the Wednesday episode of Get Up.

“When we talk about guys like Preston Smith, Billy Turner, Randall Cobb: these guys all have non-guaranteed money, if they’re going to be released, they’d much rather be released on March 2 then on March 17, because right now, there is more money available as teams head into free agency then there would be a week or two into free agency. He [Rodgers] knows what he’s going to do, he’s probably known for several months, he should let Green Bay know because they’re at an inflection point. If he’s there, a lot of those players are going to come back, if not, they’re probably going to reset and be let go. Those are consequential dollars for those players.”

According to the latest rumors out of the league, there is a “widespread belief” that the two-time defending NFL MVP will be returning to the Packers, who were the NFC’s #1 seed this year, for the 2022 season.

The 2022 League Year, and therefore Free Agency, will begin on Wednesday, March 16. Expect an official announcement from Rodgers regarding his future prior to that date.
