Atlanta won a thrilling game over archrival Philadelphia to even its NLDS series at 1-1 on Monday. An exciting final play sent fans into an absolute frenzy.
Shortly after the Braves sealed that victory, a “miniature earthquake” was recorded. Many believe the reaction at Truist Park literally caused the ground to shake.
After falling behind 4-0 through the first five innings, Atlanta was in danger of falling behind 2-0 in the series. That would’ve been particularly unfavorable given the teams travel to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4.
Luckily, the Braves bats erupted in the second half of the outing, piling on five runs over the last three frames. An Austin Riley homer in the bottom of the eighth put Atlanta on top for good.

Fans would be hit with even more excitement in Philadelphia’s final at-bat.
With Bryce Harper on first base, Nick Castellanos sent a high drive into the right-centerfield gap. Had it gotten down, it likely would’ve tied the game at 5-5.
Outfielder Michael Harris had different plans.
Chasing down the flyball, Harris made an impressive leaping grab at the wall before relaying the ball to teammates. With Harper having already rounded second base in anticipation of scoring the tying run, the Braves ended the game by throwing to first for the double play.

Truist Park erupted following the 8-5-3 double play, and that Braves’ crowd reaction might’ve just caused an earthquake.
Meteorologist Chris Jackson posted a message to X (formerly Twitter) after the game showing the ground actually moving near Atlanta shortly after the final out was recorded.
Looking a bit deeper at some Raspberry Shake stations, two stations definitely got “something within 5 mins or so of the game ending double play with the #Braves game at Truist Park. “Wonder if these little anomalies a couple minutes after it happened was the ground literally shaking from the double play that ended the Braves game at around 9:16 or so,” Jackson said. “Two stations picked up ‘something’ around the same time a few mins later and both were around the same distance from Truist Park.”
Coincidence or causation? Listening to the crowd reaction one more time without commentators might just convince you.
