In case you missed it, the Buffalo Bills are bringing back former Bills backup Mitch Trubisky to back up Josh Allen next season. Trubisky and Josh Allen are good friends, so it makes sense.

But, not everyone likes the move. One of the biggest detractors is former All-Pro offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz.

Before I show you some tweet, some context. Mitch Trubisky, who was the second-overall-pick of the Bears in 2017, served as the Bills’ backup in 2021, went to the Steelers to be the starter in 2022. His stint there did not go well, whether it was starting the year in 2022 or filling in for Kenny Pickett

And, the Buffalo Bills have cut players in recent days like Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White and Mitch Morse. The franchise is clearly strapped for cap space. But, they paid Trubisky well over the league minimum to come back to Buffalo.

Mitchell Schwartz is not happy about it.

Yeah, he definitely is not happy with the move. I see where he’s coming from, I guess. But, there is a lot of value in having a backup quarterback who is familiar with the system, familiar with the city, and helps the starting quarterback prepare.

I’m pretty sure that Josh Allen wants Mitch Trubisky back, and that’s reason enough to bring in a backup quarterback that is firmly backup caliber. Also, to judge him on his performance as a Pittsburgh Steeler is pretty ridiculous. That offense hasn’t looked good with anyone at the helm.

Altogether, it seems like a decent move for the Bills, even if Mitchell Schwartz doesn’t like it.
