MLB Legend Bartolo Colon Looks Like A Shell Of His Former Self After Dramatic Weight Loss

While Bartolo Colon will probably never find his way into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, his spot in the sport’s history is extremely secure. Colon pitched for 11 different MLB teams over 21 seasons, making four All-Star games and winning a Cy Young Award along the way.

But for as much as Colon was known for his incredible durability and, at times, elite stuff, he was also known for his…let’s call it “rotund” physique. Standing at just 5-foot-11-inches, Colon’s weight was listed at as much as 285 pounds during his MLB career.

Watching Colon, who earned the nickname “Big Sexy” from former teammate Noah Syndergaard, was one thing. But watching him bat and then attempt to run the bases was an absolute work of art. And, to his credit, Colon leaned into the fact that he was a larger-than-most MLB pitcher.

But that’s no longer the case. After retiring in 2018, Colon has undergone a remarkable body transformation, dropping what has to be around 50 pounds. So when a random fan decided to poke fun at Colon on social media, the first-ballot Hall of Very Good inductee immediately clapped back.

Look, we’re not saying it’s time for a comeback. But Satchel Paige did pitch in an MLB game at 59 years old! Jamie Moyer was nearly 50 when he retired in 2012, same with Julio Franco before him. So we can’t entirely rule it out (you can probably rule it out).

Colon is one of the most beloved players in MLB history. And the lesson here is that you don’t come after one of the most beloved players in MLB history, especially when they’re working so hard (and succeeding!) at getting into great shape.

And if you are going to come after that player, you better at least make sure you have your facts right.
