Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah had an assist in the Reds’ 2-1 win over West Ham this weekend, which brought his total of goal contributions (goals and assists) on the season to 45, which is a Premier League record for a 38 game season. Salah set the record with six games still remaining in the season, and he now owns two of the top five all-time seasons for total goal contributions: in 2017/18 and 2024/25.
More so than the raw numbers, though, is the idea that’s he’s duplicated what prime version of Thierry Henry and Luis Suarez, widely considered to be perhaps the two best individual attackers the Premier League has ever seen only managed once. While Mohamed Salah has spent far more time in the Premier League than Suarez did, he’s been with Liverpool for the same amount of seasons that Henry was with Arsenal (8, from 1999 to 2007).
As such, Salah’s case for being the greatest player in the history league is now firmly entrenched, and still has room to grow, as the 32-year-old recently signed a new two-year control with Liverpool Football Club.

“Whoever you support, if he’s done better than peak Suarez and peak Henry with six games left, you’ve got to admit that’s some player,” said a viral quote tweet of the graphic with over 16,000 likes.
“This guy has surpassed prime Henry, Suarez, Haaland, etc. with 6 games to play. Ridiculous!” another Premier League fan summarized.
Having recently put pen to paper on a two-year contract that will keep him with the club until 2027, Salah will have another two seasons to add to his already illustrious legacy, which will be bolstered by another Premier League title, Golden Boot, Playmaker, and Player of the Year award by the end of the season. He’s also one of the favorites to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
With six games remaining in the 2024/25 season, Salah is tied for fifth on the all-time leading PL scorers list with Sergio Aguero, and is three behind Ashley Cole in fourth with 187. Salah is also currently 10th on the all-time assist list with 87 and could finish in the top four if he racks up 16 across the next two seasons, plus the six games left to play this yea.
Next season, Salah will be targeting third-played Wayne Rooney and second-placed Harry Kane, who sit on 208 and 213 goals, respectively. If the Egyptian right winger hops to beat Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals, however, he’ll likely need to add at least another year to his contract.
