The United States Men’s National Soccer Team will compete in one of the most important matches in the team’s history today. The US will be taking on Iran in their last group stage match at the World Cup and the team needs to get a result to advance.

A bad challenge inside the penalty area against Wales cost the US a win after they led for a huge chunk of the match. Then they were only able to muster a draw against England as both teams struggled in the attacking 3rd.

Those two draws have them needing a win over Iran to advance to the knockout stages as England and Iran both currently lead the US in the group.

Sportsbooks have the United States favored to get the job done in today’s match. The line on the United States to win has moved to -105 today, with Iran coming in at +300 and the draw at +230. For much of the week you were able to get the United States at even money or better, but the line has shifted because a ton of action has come in on the US.

According to Darren Rovell, 90% of the money bet on this game has come in on the United States.

The way England was able to dismantle Iran’s defense in their first group stage match will certainly give American fans hope they can do the same. That Iranian back line has looked vulnerable and their only win in the group came in a match where they scored twice after Wales had a player sent off.

The US has had trouble putting pressure on opposing keepers in this tournament, only mustering 2 shots on goal in their 2 World Cup matches.

They’ll need to do a better job of capitalizing in the final third in this match if they’re going to have chance to advance, but it looks like their fans have a lot of faith that they can make it happen.
