This Compilation Of The ‘Unluckiest Golf Shots Ever’ Makes Me Feel A Lot Better About Being A Suuuuper Mediocre Golfer

I love golf. I love playing golf and spending time on perfectly manicured golf courses out in nature and seeing things like a bobcat run across the 16th green after I’d just shanked my shot into the woods (again).

I grew up on a golf course, went to golf camps as a kid, I’m even a member of a local golf club right now but that’s never stopped me from being an extremely mediocre golfer. On any given day I’ll shoot somewhere between 85-100 and there’s no telling of what my swing might look like on the first tee and if that swing will look the same on the 10th.

Like most guys, I watch a fair amount of the PGA Tour and I don’t often see too many shots from these pros where I sit back and think “that could’ve been me.” I did feel that way last weekend when reigning U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland skulled his shot over the green and into the clubhouse just as the camera zoomed in on his face as he mouthed ‘fuuuuuuck’. I felt that. I’ve been there.

I rarely find time to watch the European Tour but I find everything about this video relatable. Not necessarily how accurate the golf shots are but the end results. That’s what resonates with me.

This compilation of the ‘Unluckiest Golf Shots Ever’ will make anyone feel better about their golf game because it’s proof that anything can happen on the golf course. It’s a game of inches, of millimeters. You can hit a perfect shot and the universe will still laugh in your face. Likewise, you can top a ball from 120 yards out and somehow run it up 10-inches from the hole. Anything can happen.

There are countless ways for the golf course to destroy your soul but hitting the flag, hearing that ‘ding’, and then seeing your ball roll off into the distance because it was TOO GOOD and TOO CLOSE to the hole, that has to be arguably the most defeating thing that can happen to you on a golf course.

I’m stretching my brain to think of anything worse and all I’ve got it something like splitting a goose in half off the tee box as it flies across the fairway. Thoughts? Musings? Anyone else playing golf this weekend? Anyone else slightly worried about this potential Hurricane Dorian that looks like it’s supposed to be sitting on top of my house by Monday morning?
