Brittney Griner’s situation in Russia has become much more serious after the latest development. She was recently given a nine-year prison sentence after Russia denied her appeal. Now, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver provides an update as the league is in talks with the White House.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Provides Update Regarding Brittney Griner

During an interview with Malika Andrews, Silver claims the NBA has “had direct conversation with the White House, with the State Department” in regards to Griner. The WNBA star is facing a horribly unfair punishment.

It’s an absolutely ridiculous scenario and hopefully, it gets resolved soon. Especially now that Adam Silver and the league are finally in talks with the White House to get something done. Even so, we’re likely a long way away from seeing Brittney Griner released from prison.

For now, there isn’t much else to do until the White House becomes much more serious with the situation. Maybe Adam Silver’s push can finally get the job done. However, only time will tell if that’s the case.

This is definitely something to monitor moving forward. With Russia giving Brittney Griner a nine-year sentence, the WNBA star is facing some serious time. Hopefully, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the league can kick it into gear and bring her home sooner, rather than later.
