NC Central Loses Celebration Bowl Game Against Grambling State Due To Excessive Celebration Penalty

There’s no celebrating in the Celebration Bowl.

Grambling State beat NC Central in the Celebration Bowl 10-9 after an excessive celebration penalty likely cost the Eagles the game.

With close to two minutes remaining in the game, WR Quentin Atkinson caught a 39-yard touchdown pass, but was called for excessive celebration for taking his helmet while celebrating. The extra point attempt was pushed back 15 yards due to the penalty and the kick was eventually blocked by Grambling State.

The irony.
