NCAA Tapes Over Every Single Cupholder At Men’s Final Four To Prevent Free Advertisement

The NCAA will not allow any free advertising at the Final Four. It covered every cupholder at State Farm Stadium to prevent a conflict of interest with its sponsors.

Every single one!

Official corporate partners of the NCAA include Buick and Nissan. They do not include Ford.

This is where the dilemma lies.

Ford is an official partner of the Arizona Cardinals. Saturday’s Final Four and Monday’s National Championship game are being played in Phoenix. Well, Glendale.

All three games will take place at State Farm Stadium— which is totally bogus because basketball games should be played at basketball arenas. But that is a whole different can of worms that I will not open right now.

There are 63,400 seats inside of State Farm Stadium. Every single seat has its own cupholder. If my math is right, that means that there are 63,400 cupholders.

On each cupholder is a sticker. The sticker is a plug for Ford.

Ford clashes with the NCAA. That can’t happen at the Final Four! That will not do!

To avoid a conflict, every single sticker on every single cupholder was covered by duct tape prior to the first game of the weekend. All 63,400 cupholders are taped over.

Not an official sponsor of theFinal Four? Duck tape on every single cup holder

Someone was tasked with taping every cupholder throughout the entire stadium and that sounds like a really long day at work. But have no fear, the NCAA is no longer promoting a company that did not pay for the sponsorship!

The logic behind the tape makes sense. I get it.

However, I genuinely do not think that anyone would have cared or even noticed the Ford sponsorship to begin with. This is only drawing even more attention!

And I guarantee that there will be fan who rip off the tape. Those cupholders will need to be retaped!
