The Johnny Manziel to the New England Patriots rumors are starting to heat up. Today, officials from the New England Patriots spoke with free-agent quarterback Johnny Manziel before and after Texas A&M’s pro day Tuesday according to the Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian.

Manziel threw to receivers and running backs including Texas A & M’s star receiver Christian Kirk, who has drawn a lot of interest.

According to a source, the Patriots spoke with Manziel both before the workout, as well as after the session.

Manziel already had thrown for scouts from 13 NFL teams including the Patriots during the University of San Diego’s pro day last weekend, as area scout Jonathan Howard was in attendance.

It was worth noting that back in 2014 the Patriots were critical of Manziel’s off-the-field behavior while also praising his high football IQ in a scouting report obtained by Brobible.com

While the Patriots aren’t in desperate need of a backup QB after they signed Brian Hoyer last month, Manziel could be a low-risk high reward experiment for the team considering he still possesses enough skills to an NFL starter in the league. We’ll have to wait and see if the Patriots are actually serious about moving forward with Manziel but the idea seems intriguing on both sides.
